Neuroactive Exercise for Parkinson's Disease
Exercise can play a key role in helping Parkinson’s patients manage their symptoms and maintain independence. It can even delay the progression of the disease.
Neuro-active exercise specifically encourages the brain to create new signals and pathways – what is essentially a ‘re-wiring’. This is especially important for those with neurological conditions such as PD, where the brain’s wiring begins to degenerate.
At Central Coast Exercise we offer both group exercise and 1-1 sessions for people with Parkinson’s Disease, with the aim of providing PD patients a tailored exercise programme to help manage their specific symptoms.
Programmes focus on improving power, agility, balance, and coordination – in a fun and motivating environment. We hope to provide each participant with ongoing education that they can apply outside of class to assist with their quality of life and activities of daily living.
We work closely with your specialists and primary care doctors to ensure your safety, and make sure you’re getting the most out of your classes with us.
Our classes are held overlooking the ocean at Toowoon Bay Surf Life Saving Club, 160 Bay Rd, Toowoon Bay NSW 2261.
We run regular classes morning, noon and night from Monday-Friday. Contact us to check the availability of your preferred time.
Pricing is structured in 10-pack blocks and depends on whether you would like to do one or two classes per week. Alternatively, you can attend as many classes as you like with a monthly subscription. More info can be read on our pricing page.
We advise an extended (90 minute) consultation for your Neuro-active Initial Assessment. As well as going through your medical history and fitness goals, we discuss any of your concerns and do a couple of physical tests (nothing scary!) to see how best we can help you. You’ll also be taught a couple of exercises specific for your presenting symptoms to get you started.
